Star Parties

A star party is a gathering of amateur astronomers for the purpose of observing the sky. Observing sessions are typically held at a dark sky site location, away from light pollution. Participants bring a variety of telescopes and binoculars and spend the evening observing planets, stars, deep sky, and other astronomical objects together. Astrophotography and CCD imaging are also very popular.

Daytime Observing

TAAA also offers solar viewing for daytime star parties. We can accommodate safe observing of our Sun through telescopes fitted with special filters that highlight prominences and sunspots to offer a fascinating view of our own star.

TAAA Members also organize the annual Grand Canyon Star Party, a public event that lasts over a week and introduces hundreds of Canyon visitors to astronomy on both the North and South Rims.

See Grand Canyon Star Party for details.
