TAAA Main Meeting Directions and Maps
TAAA Monthly Meetings (General and Astronomy Essentials) are usually
held at the Steward Observatory Building, room N210, at 933 S. Cherry Avenue,
on the University of Arizona main campus.
Several types of maps and detailed driving instructions for folks
in Tucson or driving into town on I-10 are included
later in this web page.
Unless there is some sort of University event going on, there
is usually sufficient parking in the area of Steward Observatory
either on the street at metered spots or in the University
parking lots. You do not need to add money to meters after 5 p.m. Many of
the university lots are open to the public after 5 PM, but always
check the signs at the entrance to be sure. The University parking
policies are strictly enforced, you are advised not to be creative
in your efforts to find a parking place. Additional parking is
located in both the Second Street garage (at Second St. and Mountain,
two blocks west of Steward) or the Cherry St. parking garage
(located one block south of the University and Cherry intersection).
The entrance to the auditorium is from a patio on the northwest
side of the Steward building. Usually the patio can be reached
through the main entrance on the east side of the building, but
sometimes the doors will get locked before the meeting. If that
happens, you will have to hike the long way around via either
2nd St. or University Blvd. to the west side of the building.
The patio is right next to the 21" telescope dome, so steer for
that. The door to room N210 enters the main building as you face
north (left of the main patio entrance to the Steward building).
The University requests that we not bring food and drinks into
the Auditorium. All campus buildings are designated No Smoking
Areas.
Note that other meetings, such as Special
Interest Groups (SIGs) and star parties held at other meeting
places. See the TAAA newsletter for more information.
